Mexico Consumer Sentiment Weakens in September

Mexico’s consumer confidence fell 1.2 points to 45.1 in September 2026 from August, retreating from its highest level in a year, while sentiment remained negative.
All five components deteriorated on the month.
The sharpest decline was in households’ assessment of their current economic situation, which fell 1.9 points to 52.
Expectations for households’ economic situation over the next 12 months dropped 1.5 points to 57.6.
Assessments of the country’s current economic situation declined 1.3 points to 39, while expectations for the country’s economic outlook fell 0.9 point.
Households’ willingness to purchase durable goods, such as furniture and appliances, dropped 0.5 point to 32.
Year over year, consumer confidence declined 1.0 point.
