Mexico Manufacturing Confidence Remains Unchanged in July

Mexico’s manufacturing business confidence remained unchanged at 48 points in September 2026, staying below the 50-point threshold for the 18th consecutive month. The monthly reading reflected no change in firms’ assessment of the country’s current economic situation, at 47.8 points, or of whether the current period is appropriate for investment, at 34.3 points. Meanwhile, firms’ assessment of their companies’ current economic situation deteriorated by 0.2 point to 50.1, while expectations for their companies’ future economic situation fell 0.5 point to 55.4. In contrast, businesses’ expectations for the country’s future economic situation improved by 0.3 point to 52.2.

Mexico’s manufacturing business confidence edged 0.1 point higher to 48.1 in August 2026 from July, remaining below the 50-point threshold for 18 consecutive months. Manufacturers’ assessment of the current time as appropriate for investment rose 1.4 points to 34.4. Their assessment of current business conditions was unchanged at 50.4 points. Firms’ assessment of the country’s current economic situation edged 0.3 point lower to 47.8, while expectations for the country’s future economic situation fell 0.1 point to 51.9. Expectations for the future economic situation of their companies edged 0.3 point lower to 55.9.

Firms' assessment of the country's current economic situation edged up 0.2 points to 48.3, while expectations for the economy improved 0.3 points to 52.1. However, the "right time to invest" indicator fell 1.4 points to 32.9. Meanwhile, manufacturers' assessment of their current business conditions rose 0.2 points to 50.5, and expectations for future business conditions increased 0.5 points to 56.2.
