Luxembourg Inflation Holds Steady at 2.2%

The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg rose by 2.2% in August 2026, matching the pace recorded from the previous two months.

Price growth was unchanged for education at 6.2% and information and communication at 0.9% compared with the previous month.

Meanwhile, prices rose for personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (2.1% vs 0.5%), transport (5.3% vs 4.0%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4% vs 1.3%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (1.5% vs 0.3%), and insurance and financial services (0.9% vs 0.8%).

In contrast, inflation eased for housing and utilities (0.5% vs 2.2%), clothing and footwear (1.0% vs 2.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.0% vs 2.2%), health (1.8% vs 2.2%), recreation, sport and culture (1.5% vs 2.2%), and restaurants and hotels (3.2% vs 3.5%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.2% in August, rebounding from a 0.5% fall in July and marking the highest monthly increase in four months.

Price growth remained steady for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.3%) and education (6.2%). Meanwhile, faster increases in the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.2% vs. 1.5% in June), clothing and footwear (2.5% vs. 0.3%), health (2.2% vs. 2.1%), information and communication (0.9% vs. 0.7%), insurance and financial services (0.8% vs. 0.6%), and restaurants and hotels (3.5% vs. 3.4%) more than offset slower price growth for housing and utilities (2.2% vs. 2.6%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.3% vs. 0.4%), transportation (4.0% vs. 4.3%), recreation and culture (2.2% vs. 3.1%), and miscellaneous goods and services (0.5% vs. 1.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.5% in July, following a 0.1% increase in the preceding period.

Luxembourg Inflation at 4-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg eased to 2.2% in June 2026 from 2.3% in the previous month, marking the lowest level since February. Price growth moderated across several categories, including housing and utilities (2.6% vs. 3.3% in May), transport (4.3% vs. 5.9%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.3% vs. 2.0%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.5% vs. 2.5%), and information and communication (0.7% vs. 1.6%). Meanwhile, inflation for clothing and footwear increased to 0.3% after remaining unchanged in May, while it accelerated further for health (2.1% vs. 0.7%) and rebounded for furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.4% vs. -0.4%). Inflation also held steady for recreation, sports and culture at 3.1% and education at 6.2%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1%, recovering slightly from a 0.2% decline in the previous month.
