New car sales in Indonesia fell 0.8% year-on-year to 74,252 units in November 2025, slowing from a 4.4% drop in the previous month.
While this marked the sixth straight month of decline, it was the softest pace in the sequence.
On a monthly basis, car sales rose by 0.3%, a sharp deceleration from the 19.2% surge recorded in October.
For the January–November period, total car sales reached 710,084 units, 10% lower than the same period last year, primarily driven by reduced sales of light passenger vehicles (-11%), commercial vehicles (-3%) and small internal combustion engine (ICE) passenger cars (-31%).
Nevertheless, the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) continues to forecast 2025 car sales in the range of 750,000 to 900,000 units, above its 2024 estimate of 850,000 units.
However, the association cautioned that this outlook may be revised downward, given the persistent sales slump observed in the first half of the year.
