India’s BSE Sensex fell about 0.6% to 73,293 at Thursday’s open, extending losses for a third session as Brent crude above $110 a barrel fueled inflation concerns amid escalating Middle East tensions.

Brent rose 1.3% to $110.30 after Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia prompted the US to evacuate some diplomats and family members.

RBI policymakers signalled further rate hikes may be needed but cautioned against aggressive tightening amid growth risks.

Foreign investors bought 10.22 billion rupees in Indian shares on Wednesday, while Jio Platforms’ $3.2 billion IPO was fully subscribed within hours.

Among stocks, Eternal’s revenue beat estimates, but profit missed on higher Blinkit expansion costs, with faster growth expected from December.

M & M Financial Services posted higher quarterly revenue and profit on strong disbursements, while Bharat Electronics secured 10.11 billion rupees in new orders since October 13.

Key laggards were HDFC Bank (-1.6%), L&T Tech (-3.6%), and Reliance (-1%).

Sensex Finishes Slightly Lower
India’s BSE Sensex reversed early gains to close about 0.2% down at 73,710 on Wednesday, led by losses in financials, while rising oil prices and continued foreign fund outflows weighed on sentiment. Optimism over India-US trade negotiations provided some support, while investors also kept an eye on quarterly earnings and the mega Jio Platforms IPO. Bajaj Finance dropped 3.3%, making it the top loser, after India's largest non-bank lender flagged early signs of streass in loans against gold despite reporting a strong rise in quarterly profit. Autos, metal and FMGC stocks also faced pressure. On the upside, tech stocks stood out, with HCL Tech, infosys and Tech Mahindra climbing more than 3% each. Reliance Industries also gained after the IPO of its digital services subsidiary, Jio Platforms, was fully subscribed within two hours of public bidding opening.
