India’s BSE Sensex opened on a flat note at 77,948 on Friday, following gains in the previous two sessions, as strength in financial and auto stocks offset weakness in technology shares, leaving the broader market little changed.
Technology stocks came under pressure as investors booked profits following a strong rally in July, mirroring a broader pullback in AI-linked tech shares across Asian markets.
Financials outperformed, led by Bajaj Finance, which surged about 6.3% after reporting quarterly earnings that exceeded expectations.
Auto stocks also gained, with Mahindra & Mahindra rising about 2.8% on the back of strong quarterly results.
Overall sentiment remained supported by continued foreign fund inflows, easing crude oil prices, and a weaker US dollar, while investors also looked ahead to upcoming corporate earnings.
Other gainers included Astra Micro (12.8%), Netweb (7.4%), and Hyundai (6.9%).
The benchmark remained on track to end July with a gain of about 1.9%.
