Industrial production in India expanded by 6.7% from the previous year in July of 2026, slowing from the upwardly revised, over two-year high of 8.8% in June, but ahead of market expectations of 6%.
The result remained above averages from the previous two years, and extended the period of recovery from lower growth earlier this year as the outbreak of war in the Middle East lifted energy prices and dented economic conditions in India.
Manufacturing, which accounts for 76% of industrial production, expanded by 7.3% from the upwardly revised 9.5% in June.
Meanwhile, electricity and gas supply expanded by 8.7% from 11.3%).
On the other hand, mining and quarrying output contracted by 0.9% from a growth rate of 1.6%.
