Hong Kong's Manufacturing Output Rebounds

Manufacturing production in Hong Kong grew by 1.0% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024, rebounding from a 0.1% drop in the previous period.
Output increased in miscellaneous manufacturing industries (2.9% vs.
2.6% in Q3) and metal, computer, electronics, and optical products, machinery, and equipment (3.2% vs.
3.0%).
At the same time, production declined at a slower pace for food, beverages, and tobacco (-0.3% vs.
-2.7%) and paper products, printing, and reproduction of recorded media (-2.8% vs.
-4.6%).
Meanwhile, output fell for textiles and wearing apparel (-0.8% vs.
5.6%) and sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-0.9% vs 0.7%).
On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, manufacturing production increased by 1.1% in the December quarter, following a 0.1% rise in the prior quarter.
