Honduras Balance of Trade
Honduras' systemic trade deficit is the consequence of the country's need to import fuels (14 percent of total imports) and high added value goods like electronic equipment and machinery (14 percent) and vehicles (8 percent). The country is a net exporter of agricultural products such as coffee, tea, mate and spices (26 percent of total exports), bananas and cultivated shrimps. Honduras' main trading partner is the United States with 46 percent of total exports and 35 percent of total imports. Others include Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador.
