Czech Republic Real Wage Growth Slows in Q3

The average monthly wages in the Czech Republic rose by 4.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, slowing from a 5.3% growth in the previous quarter and slightly below market expectations of a 4.6% increase.

The average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy was CZK 48,295, representing a 7.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted average wages rose by 1.7%.

The highest average wage increases were record in professional, scientific and technical activities (11.4%), artist, entertainment and recreation (9.8%), and construction (9.5%), while the lowest were in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (3%) and mining and quarrying (3.9%).

The average monthly wages in the Czech Republic grew by 5.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, accelerating from a 3.9% rise in the previous three-month period and easily exceeding market expectations of a 4.4% increase. This marked the sixth consecutive quarter of real wage growth and the fastest pace since the second quarter of 2021. The average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy was CZK 49,402, representing a 7.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted average wages rose by 2.2%. The highest average wage increases were recorded in professional, scientific and technical activities (12.7%) and construction (11%), while the lowest were in mining and quarrying (4.8%) and other service activities (5%).

The average real monthly wages in the Czech Republic rose by 3.9% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, slowing from a 4.2% growth in the previous three-month period and missing market forecasts of a 4.0% increase. This marked the fifth consecutive quarter of real wage increases, albeit at the slowest pace in the sequence. The average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy was CZK 46,924, representing a 6.7% increase compared to the same period in 2024, though slightly lower than the 7.2% growth seen in the previous period. On a quarterly basis, the seasonally adjusted average wages went up by 1.7%. The highest average wage increases were in real estate (12.4%), professional and technical activities (10.9%), and construction (10.3%), while the lowest were in mining (3.1%) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (3.3%).
