Czech Republic Q1 Real Wages at Near 5-Year High

Average monthly wages in the Czech Republic rose by 6.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, surpassing both market expectations and the previous quarter's 5.1% increase.

This marked the ninth consecutive period of real wage growth and the fastest pace since the second quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, the average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy reached CZK 50,282, up 8.1% from a year earlier.

The strongest wage growth was recorded in real estate activities (22.1%), administrative and support service activities (18.8%), and construction (12.6%).

In contrast, the smallest increase was seen in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (2.1%).

On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, average wages increased by 2.0%.

Czech Real Wages Rise Above Expectations in Q4
The average monthly wages in the Czech Republic rose 5.1% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2025, up from 4.5% in the previous quarter and exceeding market expectations of 4.7%. The average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy reached CZK 52,283, with a 7.4% increase compared with the same period in 2024. On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted average wages increased by 1.8%. The highest year-on-year wage gains were recorded in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (15.8%), professional, scientific, and technical activities (11.8%), and agriculture, forestry, and fishing (11.5%). Meanwhile, the lowest increases were seen in other service activities (3.4%) and financial and insurance activities (3.7%). In 2025, the average wage rose to CZK 49,215 year-on-year, marking an increase of CZK 3,316 (7.2%).

The average monthly wages in the Czech Republic rose by 4.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, slowing from a 5.3% growth in the previous quarter and slightly below market expectations of a 4.6% increase. The average gross monthly nominal wage in the national economy was CZK 48,295, representing a 7.1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. On a quarterly basis, seasonally adjusted average wages rose by 1.7%. The highest average wage increases were record in professional, scientific and technical activities (11.4%), artist, entertainment and recreation (9.8%), and construction (9.5%), while the lowest were in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (3%) and mining and quarrying (3.9%).
