Czech Republic Producer Prices Change at 0.90 percent  
Czech producer prices increased by 0.9 percent year-on-year in November 2017, easing from a 1.1 percent gain in the previous month and missing market expectations of 1.3 percent. It was the lowest producer inflation since December last year, as cost rose at slower pace for manufacturing (1.1 percent from 1.4 percent in October), mainly for food products, beverages and tobacco (1.8 percent from 3.3 percent); machinery equipment (0.3 percent from 0.4 percent); and basic metals and fabricated metal products (4.9 percent from 5.1 percent). In addition, inflation slowed for mining and quarrying (3.3 percent from 3.4 percent in October), while prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning continued to fall (-1.1 percent, the same as in October). On a monthly basis, producer prices edged down 0.1 percent, missing market consensus of a 0.3 percent gain.

Czech Republic Current Account at -1450.55 EUR Million  
The Czech Republic current account deficit widened to EUR 1450.5 million in the third quarter of 2017 from EUR 844.3 million a year earlier. The primary income deficit widened to EUR 3616.1 million from EUR 3226.8 million due to lower income from the EU budget and a rise in reinvested earnings for foreign owners of domestic corporations. Meanwhile, the secondary income shortfall increased to EUR 546.9 million from EUR 314.3 million also caused by a decrease in income from the EU budget, which is recorded under secondary income. On the other hand, the goods and services surplus advanced to EUR 2712.5 million from EUR 2696.8 million, driven by an increase in receipts from goods processed for foreign owners, pipeline transport and electricity transmission. Meanwhile, imports of repair services dropped.

Czech Republic Unemployment Rate at 3.50 percent  
Czech unemployment rate decreased to 3.5 percent in November of 2017 from 4.9 percent in the same month a year earlier and matching market expectations. It is the lowest jobless rate since May of 1997, as the number of unemployed persons went down by 97.28 thousand from a year earlier to 265.47 thousand. In October of 2017, the unemployment was higher at 3.6 percent.

The average real monthly wage in Czech Republic increased 4.2 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2017, following a 5.3 percent growth in the previous period which was the biggest gain in real wages since the first three months of 2007. Consumer prices in Czech Republic increased 2.6 percent year-on-year in November of 2017, below 2.9 percent in October which was the highest inflation rate since 2012. Figures came in line with market expectations. Prices rose less for food and non alcoholic beverages (5.7% from 7.8% in October), namely fresh butter (33.3% from 50.7%); milk (6.9% from 11.4%); cheese (6.9% from 12.7%); fruit (3.8% from 8.2%); non-alcoholic beverages (0.3% from 4.3%) and vegetables (-2.3% from +10.4%). Additional downward pressure came from cost of miscellaneous goods and services (0.9% from 1.3%); recreation and culture (1% from 1.2%) and clothing and footwear (-0.5% from -0.9%). On the other hand, prices went up more for transport (2.8% from 2.5%), mainly due to auto fuel (3.7%) and inflation was steady for housing and utilities (2.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1%, below 0.5% in October.

It is the biggest gain in industrial output since August of 2016. October 2017 had 2 working days more than October 2016. Manufacturing rose faster (10.1 percent compared to 2.8 percent in September), namely manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (10.8 percent compared to 3.9 percent) and mining rebounded (3.5 percent compared to -10.7 percent). Also, supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning remained robust (15.4 percent compared to 32 percent). On a monthly basis, industrial production went down 1.5 percent.

Czech Republic Interest Rate at 0.50 percent  
The Czech National Bank lifted its benchmark two-week repo rate by 25 bps to 0.5 percent on November 2, 2017, as widely expected. It is the second increase so far this year after a 20 bps hike in August, in an attempt to counter inflationary pressures amid strong growth.The central bank also updated its inflation forecast, expecting it to stay above the 2 percent target for most of 2018 and to return to target in late 2018 and early 2019. Meantime, the lombard rate was raised by 50 bps to 1 percent while the discount rate was kept unchanged at 0.05 percent. In September, inflation rate accelerated to 2.7 percent year-on-year from 2.5 percent in August.
