Construction output in the Czech Republic increased by 4.4% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from a 7.7% rise in April but extending its expansion to a nineteenth consecutive month.
Growth was supported by both major segments, with building construction rising 3.3% and civil engineering works advancing 6.6%.
A total of 5,784 building permits were granted, up 11.6% from a year earlier, driven by increases in both new building and civil engineering projects, while the floor area of new building construction surged 74.2%.
Meanwhile, housing starts jumped 48.3% to 3,968 units, and completed dwellings rose 13.5% to 2,811 units.
On a monthly basis, construction output edged up 0.2% in May, following a 0.6% increase in April.
