UK natural gas futures fell to around 113 pence per therm on Friday, retreating to a more than five-week low, as markets awaited planned US-Iran talks this weekend amid a shaky ceasefire.
President Donald Trump said he was optimistic about reaching a deal to end the six-week conflict but later warned Tehran over charging transit fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, Qatar has reportedly begun preparations to restart LNG production at Ras Laffan following the ceasefire announcement.
The facility has been offline since early March after being struck by Iranian missiles.
While partial output could resume in the coming days, a full recovery remains contingent on safe passage through the Strait.
