Tin fell below $49,000 per tonne, reaching its lowest level since late April, as a sharp selloff in technology stocks weakened the outlook for demand from the semiconductor industry.
Concerns intensified over the costs and financing of the investment boom following Alphabet’s earnings.
Also, tin supply is expected to improve gradually as mining operations normalize in Myanmar and regulatory and export constraints ease in Indonesia.
Still, limited production expansion elsewhere and a thin pipeline of new mining projects will constrain longer-term supply growth.
On the demand side, consumption is expected to strengthen in 2027–28, supported by electronics and semiconductor applications.
