Rice futures dipped to around $11.45 per hundredweight, following a brief rebound to $11.70 on September 16, as abundant global supplies and a swift US harvest weighed on the market.
Investor sentiment remains cautious amid India’s record rice stocks, which have surpassed 48 million metric tons, and the country’s earlier decision to lift export restrictions.
The rapid pace of the US rice harvest, with Arkansas farmers having already harvested 60% of planted acres, is also weighing on prices.
Traders are closely watching the upcoming USDA Crop Progress report for further insights into harvest conditions and potential impacts on future pricing.
