Arabica coffee futures traded above $4.1 per pound, holding close to October-highs, amid signs of tightening global supplies.
The International Coffee Organization (ICO) reported that global coffee exports for the current marketing year (Oct–Sep) fell 0.3% y/y to 138.658 million bags.
Market fundamentals remain strong, underpinned by low stocks and weather-related uncertainties in major producing countries.
Climate change is affecting production, from below-average rainfall in Brazil to recent extreme events, including Hurricane Melissa in Central America and Typhoon Kalmaegi in Vietnam.
ICO noted that shipping delays due to container shortages and Suez Canal restrictions are adding to supply pressures.
Meanwhile, traders also awaited progress in Brazil–US talks to remove the 40% tariff on Brazilian coffee exports.
A stronger Brazilian real further supported prices by discouraging exports from local producers.
