Arabica coffee futures eased to around $3.85 per pound, the lowest since mid-October, as concerns over tariffs eased following President Donald Trump’s comments that the US and Brazil could “reach a trade deal fairly quickly” during his meeting with counterpart Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Trump signaled a willingness to roll back the punitive 50% tariffs he had imposed on Brazilian goods, including coffee, which were imposed over Brazil’s policies and the criminal case against former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Meanwhile, traders remain focused on weather conditions across Brazil’s major coffee-growing regions during the critical flowering stage of the 2025/26 crop.
According to Climatempo, a new cold front will pass through the South and advance into the Southeast during the final days of October, bringing rain to key production areas.
Coffee prices remain up nearly 40% since August, fueled by Brazil’s drought and persistent global shortages, which have been intensified by US tariffs.
