Arabica coffee futures fell to around $3.7 per pound as forecasts for rain in Brazil eased worries over the impact of recent dry and hot weather on next season’s crop.
Meteorologists expect rainfall to spread from São Paulo to Alta Mogiana and southern Minas Gerais later this week, with heavier showers between Thursday and Friday.
Some areas could see over 30 millimeters, enough to moisten soils and support coffee flowering, according to Climatempo.
While dryness had recently lifted prices by 3.4% last week, traders noted that conditions remain within normal ranges and have already aided the main flowering.
Still, timely rain is essential for crop development after a dry spell since September 23.
