Coffee Futures Ease on Brazil Rain Forecasts

2025-10-07 14:51 By Agna Gabriel 1 min. read

Arabica coffee futures fell to around $3.7 per pound as forecasts for rain in Brazil eased worries over the impact of recent dry and hot weather on next season’s crop.

Meteorologists expect rainfall to spread from São Paulo to Alta Mogiana and southern Minas Gerais later this week, with heavier showers between Thursday and Friday.

Some areas could see over 30 millimeters, enough to moisten soils and support coffee flowering, according to Climatempo.

While dryness had recently lifted prices by 3.4% last week, traders noted that conditions remain within normal ranges and have already aided the main flowering.

Still, timely rain is essential for crop development after a dry spell since September 23.

Arabica Coffee Futures at 2024-Lows
Arabica coffee futures traded around $2.75 per pound, holding close to the lowest since November 2024, pressured by expectations of increased supply in the near-term. Traders closely monitor the incoming 2026/27 harvest in top producer Brazil. Weather conditions remain favorable in Brazilian producing areas, with predominantly dry weather and high temperatures, which is favoring the progress of the harvest and reducing risks to production at this time. Even though it is still in its initial phase, the market is already anticipating a larger harvest, keeping prices under pressure. In late April, the Coffee Trading Academy forecast Brazil’s 2026/27 output to rise 12% year-over-year to 71.4 million bags. Meanwhile, the demand outlook is clouded by potential price increases tied to the ongoing US–Israeli conflict with Iran.
