The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which tracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, snapped a two-day winning streak on Thursday, dropping about 2.7% to a one-week low of 3,521 points.

Weaker rates across larger segments were behind the decline.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also halted a two-day advance, slipping 4.3% to 6,122 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.2% to 2,409 points.

Conversely, the supramax index rose by 0.5% to 1,713 points.
