Baltic Dry Index Up for 3rd Day, Still Posts Weekly Loss

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, was up for a third session on Friday, rising about 0.8% to 2,031 points.
The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also advanced for a third day, climbing 2% to its highest since March 4at 3,032 points.
At the same time, the supramax index added 1 point to 1,206 points; while the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, continued to decrease, falling about 0.8% to a fresh six-week low of 1,756 points.
For the week, the benchmark index declined about 1.2%.
