The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, fell about 0.3% to 2,057 points on Thursday, after rising roughly 2% in the prior session.
The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, decreased by 0.7% to 2,965 points; and the supramax index went down 0.9% to 1,229 points.
Conversely, the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose nearly 1% to 1,909 points.
