Baltic Dry Index Snaps 4-Day Winning Run

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, halted a four-day winning streak on Tuesday, falling 0.7% to 2,024 points.

The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, decreased by 1.3% to 2,888 points; and the supramax index declined by 1% to 1,256 points.

On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose by 0.9% to 1,853 points.

Baltic Dry Index Rises for 4th Session
The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index increased 0.5% to 2038 on Monday, following a 2.8% rise in the previous session. The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, advanced 1.6% to 2927. On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, decreased 0.1% to 1836; and the supramax index fell 1.2% to 1268.

Baltic Dry Index Rises Further, Posts Weekly Gain
The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, advanced for a third session on Friday, rising about 2.8% to 2,028 points. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, climbed 5.8% to 2,880 points; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, went up 0.2% to 1,838 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index fell 0.5% to 1,283 points. The benchmark index logged a weekly gain of 0.9%.
