Taiwan Forex Reserves Hit New Record in May

Taiwan’s foreign exchange reserves surged to USD 592.95 billion in May 2025, reaching a record high and up from USD 582.83 billion in the previous month The increase was driven by returns from foreign exchange reserves management and exchange rate movements of other reserve currencies against the USD.
Additionally, the central bank also stepped in to smooth out volatile capital flows to maintain an orderly foreign exchange market.
For comparison, reserves stood at USD 572.8 billion in May 2024.
