Taiwan Exports Surge to Record High in October

Exports from Taiwan surged 49.7% year-on-year to a record high of USD 61.8 billion in October, accelerating from a 33.8% rise in the previous month and exceeding market expectations for a 31.6% gain.
Growth was driven by robust shipments of information, communication, and audio-video products (+138.2%), electronic parts (+27.7%), machinery (+7.7%), and chemicals (+3.3%), while shipments of base metals and articles of base metal (-11.6%) declined.
By destination, exports to major markets posted robust increases, with shipments rising to the US (+144.3%), Korea (+46.6%), ASEAN (+40.0%), Europe (+26.2%), Japan (+19.8%), and China and Hong Kong (+3.2%).
From January to October, total exports reached USD 514.45 billion, up 31.8% from a year earlier, including a 63.3% surge in shipments to the US.
