Spain Tourist Arrivals Hit Peak For May

Spain received about 10.3 million international visitors during May 2026, 9.5% more than in May 2025 and setting a new record for the month.
The United Kingdom retained its position as the leading country of residence, with almost 2.2 million tourists (+6.1%).
France (+11.1%) and Germany (+9.0%) each contributed around 1.3 million tourists.
Nearly 5.4 million tourists stayed for four to seven nights, making it the most common length of stay and representing a 14.1% increase compared with the same month of the previous year.
The number of day-trippers rose by 2.7%, while that of tourists staying for more than 15 nights decreased by 3.7%.
Catalonia was the top tourist destination, receiving 21.1% of all tourists, a 13.1% increase compared with May 2025.
It was followed by the Balearic Islands, with a 20.6% share of total arrivals, up 5.2%, and Andalusia, accounting for 15.9% of tourists, up 12.7%.
Year-to-date, the number of tourists increased by 5.0% and exceeded 36.8 million.
