Poland Jobless Rate Holds at 5.8%

Poland’s registered unemployment rate stood at 5.8% in August 2026, unchanged from the previous month and slightly below market expectations of 5.9%.

The latest reading still marked the lowest level since December 2025, as the number of unemployed persons declined by 3.1 thousand from a month earlier to 909.5 thousand, with women representing 49.8% of the total.

The majority of unemployed individuals were not entitled to unemployment benefits, accounting for 87.3% of the total.

Meanwhile, 4.5% were out of work due to company-related terminations, while fresh graduates made up 2.3% of all unemployed persons.

Additionally, 377.8 thousand had been out of work for more than a year.

Compared with August 2025, the jobless rate was 0.3 percentage points higher, having stood at 5.5% a year earlier.

Separately, reported job vacancies at the end of the month decreased by 2.2 thousand to 46.6 thousand.
