Poland Producer Prices Rise for Second Month

Producer prices in Poland rose 1.9% year-on-year in April 2026, defying expectations of a 0.1% decline and following an upwardly revised 1.2% increase in the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of growth after thirty-two straight months of contraction.

Inflationary pressures strengthened in the manufacturing industry (2.3% vs 1.5% in March), while costs also accelerated in mining and quarrying (3.7% vs 0.5%).

Meanwhile, price growth eased for water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation activities (1.4% vs 2.1%), while deflation softened slightly in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (-1.2% vs -1.3%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices eased 0.5% in April from an upwardly revised 3% rise in the previous period.

Producer prices in Poland rose by 2.4% year-on-year in May 2026, slightly below market expectations for a 2.5% gain but accelerating from an upwardly revised 2.1% increase in the previous month. The latest reading also marked the third consecutive month of growth in producer prices after thirty-two straight months of deflation. Among the sections in industry, price increases were recorded in the mining and quarrying sector, where producer prices rose 4.3% (vs 3.1% in April). Within the sector, prices for metal ore mining jumped 11.5%, while coal and lignite mining fell 3.4%. Producer inflation also rose in the manufacturing sector (2.8% vs 2.5%), and in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (1.3% vs 1.1%). In contrast, costs in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector were 1.6% lower than in May 2025 (vs -1.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices stalled in May, following an upwardly revised 0.6% gain in the preceding period.

Producer prices in Poland fell 0.8% year-on-year in March 2026, easing from a downwardly revised 2% decrease in the previous month, though still coming in above expectations for a 0.1% decline. Deflationary pressures moderated in manufacturing (-0.8% vs -2.3% in February) and in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (-1.6% vs -4.1%). Costs also rose in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (1.9% vs 1.7%). Conversely, price growth slowed in mining and quarrying (0.2% vs 1.2%). On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 1% in March from an upwardly revised 0.4% in the preceding period.
