Poland Industrial Output Growth at 4-Month Low

Poland’s industrial output eased to 4.3% year-on-year in August 2026 from a revised 4.9% in the previous month, falling short of expectations of 6.8%.

This marked the lowest reading since April, as production growth slowed in manufacturing (3.4% vs 4.4% in July), weighed down by slower growth in beverages (6.1% vs 16.9%) and repair, maintenance, and installation of machinery and equipment (0.9% vs 13.8%), as well as declines in tobacco products (-11.7% vs -10.6%), textiles (-4.9% vs -2.5%), and clothing (-4.4% vs 4.2%).

Output also moderated in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (9.5% vs 11.3%).

Meanwhile, output rose in mining and quarrying (18.7% vs 18.5%), and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (10.5% vs 7.4%).

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 7.5% in August, deepening from a revised 2.0% drop in July.

In the January-August period, industrial output was 3.5% higher than in the same period last year.

Poland’s industrial output eased to 5.1% year-on-year in July 2026 from a downwardly revised 7.4% increase in the previous month, exceeding market expectations of 4.9%. Production growth slowed in manufacturing (4.4% vs. 6.2% in June), driven largely by decreases in food (0.3% vs. 6.7%), wood, cork and wicker products (2.1% vs. 9.1%), paper and paper products (7.0% vs. 19.0%), and pharmaceutical products (1.6% vs. 11.5%). At the same time, output moderated in mining and quarrying (18.5% vs. 28.4%), water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (7.4% vs. 14.5%), and electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (11.3% vs. 14.4%). On a monthly basis, industrial production fell by 1.8% in July, following a downwardly revised 1.8% growth in the preceding period. In the January–July period, industrial output was 3.6% higher than a year earlier.

Poland Industrial Output Tops Forecasts
Poland’s industrial output rose 7.6% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a 4.1% increase in May and exceeding market expectations of a 7.2% rise. This marked the strongest growth since September 2025, as production strengthened in manufacturing (6.4% vs. 2.7% in May), driven mainly by gains in other transport equipment (24.9%), paper and paper products (19.0%), electrical equipment (15.8%), machinery and equipment (11.3%), and fabricated metal products (9.6%). Output also accelerated in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply (16.4% vs. 12.8%) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (14.7% vs. 11.0%), while growth eased in mining and quarrying (28.3% vs. 31.0%). On a monthly basis, industrial production rose 2.0% in June, rebounding from a 0.8% decline in May. In the first half of 2026, industrial output was 3.9% higher than a year earlier.
