Poland Industrial Output Unexpectedly Falls

Poland’s industrial output fell by 1.5% year-on-year in January 2026, sharply reversing a 7.3% rise in the previous month and missing market expectations of a 2.4% gain.

Activity declined in the manufacturing sector (-3.2% vs 7.9% in December 2025).

At the same time, output growth slowed in mining and quarrying (5.5% vs 7%) and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (3.2% vs 10.9%).

Meanwhile, output recovered sharply in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (18.7% vs -2.6%).

On a monthly basis, industrial output dropped by 6% in January, following a 0.1% decline in the preceding period.

Poland Industrial Output Highest in Over 3 Years
Poland’s industrial output advanced 9.4% year-on-year in March 2026, following a downwardly revised 1.3% increase in the previous month, sharply exceeding market expectations of a 4.2% gain. This marked the highest reading since September 2022, as production in manufacturing rose 9.1% after stagnating in February, supported by stronger activity in food (11.2% vs 4.2%), beverages (12.9% vs 3.8%), wood, cork, straw, and wicker products (5.8% vs 2.5%), and paper and paper products (9.3% vs 5%). At the same time, output increased in mining and quarrying (21.1% vs 19.5%) and in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (9.9% vs 2.6%). Meanwhile, growth slowed sharply in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (7.4% vs 12.1%). On a monthly basis, industrial output jumped 17.2% in March, following a downwardly revised 2.5% increase in the previous period.

Poland Industrial Output Rises More than Expected
Poland’s industrial output rose 1.5% year-on-year in February 2026, rebounding from a 1.5% decline in the previous month and exceeding market expectations of a 1.3%. Activity growth recovered in manufacturing (0.2% vs -3.2% in January), particularly in food and beverages products, while output climbed in mining and quarrying (19.6% vs 5.5%). Meanwhile, output growth slowed in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning (13.5% vs 18.7%), as well as in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services (2.8% vs 3.2%). On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 2.7% in February, picking up from a 6% fall in January.
