Polish Consumer Morale Weakens in July

Poland’s consumer sentiment indicator fell to -10.2 in July 2026, worsening from -9.9 in the previous month.

Expectations for the country’s economic situation over the last 12 months deteriorated (-23.4 vs -20.7), as did expectations for households’ future economic situation over the year ahead (-2.7 vs -1.9).

Meanwhile, households’ financial situation over the last 12 months became less negative (-6.0 vs -6.3), while assessments of making major purchases improved both currently (-1.6 vs -3.3) and in the future (-22.3 vs -27.8).

Among components outside the main index, concerns about unemployment worsened (-25.3 vs -23.9), while perceptions of price trends over the last 12 months increased (49.8 vs 47.9), though expectations for the next 12 months eased (19.9 vs 20.2).

The leading consumer confidence indicator rose to -7.3 from -7.7 in the previous month.

Poland’s current consumer confidence indicator fell to -11.3 in August 2026, worsening from -10.2 in the previous month. Evaluations of current major purchases deteriorated the most (-4.9 vs -1.6), while expectations for the country’s future economic situation also weakened (-19.3 vs -17.3). Expectations for households’ financial situation over the next 12 months declined (-3.1 vs -2.7), as did assessments of the country’s current economic situation (-23.8 vs -23.4). Meanwhile, households’ financial situation over the last 12 months improved (-5.4 vs -6.0). The leading consumer confidence indicator also deteriorated, falling to -7.6 from -7.3 in July, with expectations for future savings (-14.1 vs 16.3) and the country’s future economic situation (-19.3 vs -17.3) weakening, while expectations for unemployment improved (-22.2 vs -25.3).

Poland Consumer Confidence Improves in June
Poland’s consumer sentiment indicator rose to -9.9 in June 2026 from -11.3 in the previous month, reflecting an improvement in households' assessment of both current and future economic conditions. The increase was mainly driven by stronger expectations regarding the country's future economic situation (-17.4 vs -20.9 in May) and as well as while assessments of the past 12 months also improved (-20.7 vs -23.5). Consumers also reported improved expectations for their household finances over the next 12 months (-1.9 vs -3.0) and slightly better conditions for making major purchases (-3.3 vs -3.6). However, assessments of current household finances deteriorated slightly (-6.3 vs -5.7). Meanwhile, the leading consumer confidence indicator rose to -7.7 from -8.5, supported by improved expectations for the economy, household finances, and unemployment. Despite the improvement, both consumer confidence indicators remained below their levels from a year earlier.
