Poland Industry Confidence at 3-Month High

The general business climate indicator for manufacturing in Poland rose to -4.1 in May 2026 from -4.4 in the previous month, marking the highest reading in three months.

Still, the latest figure remained below its long term average of +0.4.

Among sectors, accommodation and food service activities (14.7 vs. 10.2 in April) recorded the most positive assessment of business conditions, followed by wholesale trade (3 vs. 1.7).

At the same time, sentiment became less pessimistic in construction (-1.3 vs. -2.4) and transportation and storage (-1.1 vs. -5.6), while retail trade turned neutral from -1.3.

However, businesses became less optimistic in financial and insurance activities (26.6 vs. 29.3) and information and communication (8.1 vs. 9.6).

The general business climate indicator for manufacturing in Poland rose to -4.4 in April 2026 from a three-month low of -5.2 in March. Still, the latest reading remained below its long-term average of +0.4. Most companies expected prices for services or raw materials to increase at a faster pace in the near term (40.5), citing energy prices as the main factor likely to drive operating costs higher amid the war in the Middle East. Among other sectors, the financial and insurance activities section (29.3 vs 26.8 in March) had the most positive assessment of business conditions, followed by accommodation and food service activities (10.2 vs 3.7). However, the most pessimistic assessment were reported by entities operating in the transportation and storage sector (-5.6 vs -3.4).

The general business climate indicator for manufacturing in Poland fell to -5.2 in March 2026, down from -3.2 in the previous month, marking the lowest reading since December 2025. The indicator remained below its long-term average of +0.5, as confidence weakened in accommodation and catering (3.7 vs 8.1) and information and communication (10.7 vs 11.7), while conditions deteriorated further in industrial processing (-5.2 vs -3.2) and transportation and storage (-3.4 vs -0.1). Meanwhile, some sectors showed improvement, particularly construction (-2.8 vs -4.7) and retail trade (-1.3 vs -2.1), while sentiment strengthened in wholesale (2.5 vs 1.4) and financial and insurance activities (26.8 vs 25.1).
