The economy of Nicaragua shrank 4.3 percent year-on-year in September 2018, following a 3.9 percent contraction in the previous month. Main negative contributions came from: hotels & restaurants (-27.1 percent vs 33.1 percent in August); construction (-17.5 percent vs -19 percent); finance & insurance (-10.3 percent vs -7.9 percent); trade (-15.1 percent vs -14.3 percent) and livestock activities (-6 percent vs 4.6 percent). In contrast, output rebounded in mining & quarrying (32 percent vs -7.5 percent) and agriculture (4 percent vs -0.8 percent).
