Mexico Retail Sales Rise in June

Mexico’s retail sales rose 2.7% year over year in June 2026, accelerating from a 1.6% increase in May.

Growth was led by sales through online channels, printed catalogs, TV and similar platforms (23.2%), followed by household appliances, computers, home décor and second-hand goods (10.3%), healthcare products (9.3%), and textiles, accessories, footwear and clothing (7.0%).

These gains more than offset declines in grocery items, food, beverages, ice and tobacco (-2.2%) and supermarkets and department stores (-2.3%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.2%, following a 0.6% decline in May.

Mexico's retail sales rose 1.6% year-on-year in May 2026 after increasing 4.4% in the prior month. Strong growth in sales through online channels, printed catalogues, TV and similar platforms (12%), healthcare products (7.7%), textiles, accessories, footwear and clothing (6.3%), household appliances, computers, home décor and second-hand goods (5.8%), and motor vehicles, spare parts, fuels, and lubricants (3.2%) more than offset declines in grocery items, food, beverages, ice and tobacco (-7.1%) and stationery, recreational goods, and other personal-use items (-2.4%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales fell 0.6% following a 0.8% increase in April.

Mexico Retail Sales Growth Quickens in April
Mexico’s retail sales surged by 4.4% year-on-year in April 2026, extending a 2.9% rise in the previous month. Strong growth in sales of household appliances, computers, home décor and second-hand goods (+12.7%), textiles and clothing (+9%) and healthcare products (+8%) more than offset a 5.2% drop in grocery items, food, beverages, ice and tobacco. In the meantime, sales through online channels, printed catalogues, TV and similar platforms remained buoyant (+9.3%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade rose by 0.8% in April, after an upwardly revised 0.2% increase in the prior month.
