Mexico Retail Sales Rise in January

Retail sales in Mexico rose 5.0% year-on-year in January 2026, accelerating from 4.3% in December and marking the ninth consecutive month of expansion.
The strongest gains were recorded in online and catalog sales (23.9%), healthcare products (16.2%), stationery and other personal use items (11.9%), textiles, costume jewelry, clothing accessories and footwear (11.8%), household goods, computers, home décor and used items (6.4%), and motor vehicles, auto parts, fuels and lubricants (6.2%).
In contrast, grocery spending fell 1.8%.
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 1.0% following a 0.1% decline in the prior month.
