Mexico Retail Trade Growth Quickens to Over 2-Year High

Retail sales in Mexico rose 4.4% year-on-year in November 2025, up from 3.4% in the prior month and beating forecasts of a 3% advance.
This pointed to the seventh consecutive month of growth in the county's retail activity, and the strongest since July 2023.
Sales increased significantly for healthcare products (9.9%); household goods, computers, articles for interior decoration and used items (9.5%); stationery items, recreation and other articles of personal use (5.2%) motor vehicles, spare parts, fuels and lubricants (5.2%); and clothing, jewelry, accessories, and shoes (4.8%).
Conversely, spending on groceries, food, drinks, ice, and tobacco declined by 5.8%.
Notably, sales via online, catalogs, TV, and similar grew by 20.7%.
From the previous month, retail trade rose by 1% on a seasonally adjusted basis, after an upwardly revised 0.5% increase in October and well above estimates of a 0.1% gain.
