Luxembourg Unemployment Rate Unchanged at 6.3%

Luxembourg's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.3% in February 2026, unchanged from the previous month.

It remained the highest jobless rate since February 2021, as the number of unemployed persons rose by 40 month-on-month to 20,185.

Meanwhile, total employment fell by 8, bringing the total to 299,712, while the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals increased by 32, reaching 319,897.

In terms of cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers decreased slightly by 2 from a month earlier to 14,044, while incoming cross-border workers declined by 360 to 233,022.

In February 2025, the seasonally adjuted unemployment rate was lower at 5.9%.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 6.3% in January 2026, following a 6.2% rise in each of the previous two months. This marked the highest rate since February 2021, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 167 from the previous month to a record high of 21,255. Meanwhile, overall total employment rose by 834 to 300,157, with the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals adding 1,001 to reach 321,412. In terms of cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers remained unchanged at 14,046, while incoming cross-border workers jumped by 1,775 to 232,230.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 6.2% in December 2025, unchanged from the previous month. Still, this marked the highest rate since March 2021, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 1,181 from the previous month to a record high of 21,088. Meanwhile, overall total employment declined by 2,307 to a four-month low of 299,323, with the active labor force among Luxembourg nationals dropping by 1,126 to 320,411. In terms of cross-border employment, the number of outgoing resident workers remained unchanged at 14,046, while incoming cross-border workers decreased by 4,012 to 230,455.
