Luxembourg Inflation Eases to 2.3% in May

The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg eased to 2.3% in May 2026 from 3.1% in the previous month.

Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.0% vs 2.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.5% vs 3.2%), housing and utilities (3.3% vs 4.4%), health (0.7% vs 1.8%), transportation (5.9% vs 6.3%), and restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 3.3%).

At the same time, prices for furniture and household equipment declined (-0.4% vs 1.0%), while inflation for clothing and footwear was unchanged after rising 0.2% in April.

In contrast, price growth increased for information and communication (1.6% vs -0.1%) and recreation and culture (3.1% vs 2.5%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.2% in May, reversing a 1.2% increase in April and marking the first monthly decline since January

Luxembourg Inflation Hits 2-Year High
The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg rose to 3.1% in April 2026 from 2.4% in the previous month, marking the highest level since March 2024. Price pressures intensified for housing and utilities (4.4% vs 1.7% in March), transportation (6.3% vs 4.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.2% vs 2.6%), restaurants and accommodation services (3.3% vs 2.9%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (1.7% vs 1.2%). Inflation also edged higher for furniture, household items and routine home maintenance (1.0% vs 0.9%), while clothing and footwear increased 0.2% after being flat in March. At the same time, inflation held steady for health (1.8%) and education (6.2%), while deflation eased for information and communication (-0.1% vs -1.0%). Conversely, price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.4% vs 2.8%) and recreation, sport, and culture (2.5% vs 4.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose to 1.2% in April from 0.9% in the prior period.

Luxembourg Inflation Rate Rises to 3-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg rose to 2.4% in March 2026, up from 1.3% in the previous month, marking the highest level since December 2025. Costs rebounded in housing and utilities (1.7% vs -1.2% in February), while price growth accelerated in transportation (4.2% vs 0.2%), recreation, sport and culture (4.7% vs 3.8%), restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 2.5%), and furnishings and household equipment (0.9% vs 0.7%). At the same time, prices held steady for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.8%) and education (6.2%). Meanwhile, inflation eased in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.6% vs 4.2%) and health (1.8% vs 2.3%). Prices for clothing and footwear were flat after a 0.1% decline in February, while information and communication fell (-1% vs 0.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.9%, slowing from 1.2% in the preceding period.
