Luxembourg Trade Gap Largest in 6 Months

Luxembourg’s trade deficit widened to EUR 0.83 billion in June 2026 from EUR 0.75 billion in the same month a year earlier.
This marked the largest trade shortfall since December 2025, as imports rose 12.3% year-on-year to EUR 2.26 billion, driven by higher purchases of mineral fuels and lubricants (34.1%), chemical and related products (53.2%), and machinery and equipment (25.7%).
Purchases also increased from Belgium (5.9%), the United States (276.8%), and Germany (1.1%).
Meanwhile, exports increased 13.5% to EUR 1.43 billion, supported by higher shipments of manufactured goods of primary materials (19.2%), transport equipment (8.8%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (35.4%).
Export destinations also grew most to Germany (7.6%), France (10.3%), and Belgium (9.7%).
For the January-June period, the trade gap rose to EUR 4.35 billion from EUR 4.26 billion in the same period last year.
