Luxembourg Trade Deficit Narrows in May

Luxemburg's trade deficit narrowed to €0.66 billion in May 2026 from €0.67 in the same month a year earlier.
Exports rose 6.4% year-on-year to €1.33 billion, supported by higher shipments of chemical and other related products (27.9%), base metal manufactured goods (8.5%) and transport materials (7.7%).
Shipments to the United States (8.1%), Germany (5.9%) and Belgium (5.9%) saw the highest gains.
Imports increased at a slower pace of 3.8% to €1.99 billion, driven by stronger purchases of mineral fuels and lubricants (52.1%), chemical and related products (22.3%), and machinery and equipment (7.4%).
Purchases from the United States surged 153.0%, while purchases from Japan increased 74.8%.
