Irish Weekly Earnings Surpass €1,000 for the First Time

Average weekly earnings in Ireland rose by 5.6% year-on-year to €1,026.2 in the first quarter of 2025, following an upwardly revised 5.8% increase in the previous quarter.
The pace of wage growth remained strong as employment expanded by 3.3% and job vacancy rates held steady over the past 18 months.
Wage increases were reported in 12 of the 13 economic sectors, with the largest gains in the arts & entertainment sector (8.0%), followed by the professional & technical sector (7.9%).
Meanwhile, average hourly earnings increased by 5.9% to €31.72, while average weekly paid hours declined slightly to 32.4 in Q1 2025 from 32.5 in Q1 2024.
Over the five-year period from Q1 2020 to Q1 2025, average hourly earnings surged by 28.1%, with all sectors recording increases during this time.
