Irish Average Weekly Earnings Rise 4.9% in Q3

Average weekly earnings in Ireland rose 4.9% year-on-year to €1,003.81 in Q3 2025, easing from a downwardly revised 4.5% increase in the previous quarter and marking the second-slowest pace in nearly two years. Wage gains were recorded across all 13 sectors of the economy, underscoring broad-based strength. The sharpest increases were seen in arts, entertainment and recreation (+10.2%), mining and quarrying (+10%), and real estate activities (+8.8%). Meanwhile, average hourly earnings climbed 4.3% to €30.50, and average weekly paid hours inched up 0.6% to 32.9, reflecting a modest expansion in overall labor input.

Average weekly earnings in Ireland increased by 5.3% year-on-year to €1,015.43 in the second quarter of 2025, following an upwardly revised 5.9% rise in the first quarter. The earnings growth remained strong, supported by a stable job vacancy rate for the past 18 months as well as annual employment growth of 2.3%. Wages rose across all 13 sectors, with the largest gains recorded in the arts, entertainment, recreation & other service activities sector (11.4%), followed by the professional, scientific & technical activities sector (7.2%). Meanwhile, average hourly earnings grew by 4.3% to €31.04, whereas average weekly paid hours increased by 0.9% to 32.7.

Average weekly earnings in Ireland rose by 5.6% year-on-year to €1,026.2 in the first quarter of 2025, following an upwardly revised 5.8% increase in the previous quarter. The pace of wage growth remained strong as employment expanded by 3.3% and job vacancy rates held steady over the past 18 months. Wage increases were reported in 12 of the 13 economic sectors, with the largest gains in the arts & entertainment sector (8.0%), followed by the professional & technical sector (7.9%). Meanwhile, average hourly earnings increased by 5.9% to €31.72, while average weekly paid hours declined slightly to 32.4 in Q1 2025 from 32.5 in Q1 2024. Over the five-year period from Q1 2020 to Q1 2025, average hourly earnings surged by 28.1%, with all sectors recording increases during this time.
