Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Expand 9.8% YoY

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia rose 14.43% year-on-year to 1.41 million in December 2025, accelerating from a 9.79% increase in the previous month and pointing to strengthening momentum in inbound tourism toward year-end. Gains were broad-based across major source markets, led by China (23.79%), Singapore (18.33%), Malaysia (13.99%), Japan (10.70%), Taiwan (10.03%), the United States (11.20%), India (8.54%), the United Kingdom (1.32%), and Australia (4.45%). In contrast, arrivals from South Korea declined 8.18%. For the full year, total foreign tourist arrivals rose 10.80% to 15.39 million, the highest level in six years and within the government’s target range of 14–16 million visitors. The government aims to attract between 16.0 million and 17.6 million foreign tourists in 2026, underscoring confidence in a continued recovery in international travel demand.

Key source markets included Malaysia (18.81%), Singapore (4.82%), China (23.75%), Japan (7.75%), South Korea (1.4%), the UK (7.03%), and and Australia (4.39%), but arrivals fell from the U.S. (-1.88%), India (-1.55%), and France (-3.44%). In the first eleven months of the year, total arrivals increased 10.44% to 13.98 million. The government aims to attract 14–16 million foreign visitors for the year, following a 19.1% surge in 2024 that lifted arrivals to 13.9 million, exceeding forecasts and marking the strongest post-COVID recovery.

Foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia rose 11.19% yoy to 1.33 million in October 2025, accelerating from a 9.04% growth in the previous month. Key source markets included Malaysia (17.19%), Singapore (17.70%), China (23.08%), Japan (16.16%), South Korea (26.64%), and Australia (5.37%), but arrivals fell from India (-2.31%), the U.S. (-0.84%), and the UK (-0.05%). In January–October, total arrivals increased 10.32% to 12.76 million. The government has set a 2025 target of 14–16 million foreign arrivals, after tourism jumped 19.1% to 13.9 million last year, topping forecasts and marking the strongest recovery since the COVID pandemic.
