Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Expand 14.4% YoY

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia rose 14.43% year-on-year to 1.41 million in December 2025, accelerating from a 9.79% increase in the previous month and pointing to strengthening momentum in inbound tourism toward year-end.

Gains were broad-based across major source markets, led by China (23.79%), Singapore (18.33%), Malaysia (13.99%), Japan (10.70%), Taiwan (10.03%), the United States (11.20%), India (8.54%), the United Kingdom (1.32%), and Australia (4.45%).

In contrast, arrivals from South Korea declined 8.18%.

For the full year, total foreign tourist arrivals rose 10.80% to 15.39 million, the highest level in six years and within the government’s target range of 14–16 million visitors.

The government aims to attract between 16.0 million and 17.6 million foreign tourists in 2026, underscoring confidence in a continued recovery in international travel demand.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased by 10.50% year-on-year to 1.09 million in March 2026, easing from a 13.37% rise in the previous month, partly due to seasonal normalization after earlier peak travel periods and softer regional demand amid lingering economic uncertainties. Most visitors originated from Malaysia (16.66%), Australia (17.73%), China (13.55%), and the U.S. (2.80%). In contrast, arrivals declined from India (-1.4%) and Europe (-8.5%), with notable drops from the UK (-3.62%), France (-9.15%), and Germany (-7.85%). Cumulatively, foreign tourist arrivals rose 8.62% year-on-year to 3.44 million in the first three months of the year.

Indonesia Tourist Arrivals Up 13.37% in February
Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia increased by 13.37% year-on-year to 1.16 million in February 2026, following a 1.11% rise in the previous month, underscoring strengthening momentum in inbound tourism. Most visitors came from Malaysia (17.18%), China (13.01%), and Singapore (9.43%). Air travel remained the primary mode of entry, accounting for 78.10% of all arrivals. Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport and Banten’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport together received 691.22 thousand passengers, representing 88.32% of all air arrivals. Arrivals by sea transportation reached 184.60 thousand, up 28.80% year-on-year, mainly at Batam and Tanjung Uban Ports in Kepulauan Riau. Land entries totaled 34.84 thousand, increasing 19.02%, with most crossings occurring at Atambua in East Nusa Tenggara and Jayapura in Papua. Monthly, international arrivals decreased by 2.42%. For the January–February period, Indonesia recorded 2.35 million foreign visitors, representing a 7.77% rise from the same period a year ago.
