Indonesia Motorbike Sales Rise 8.4% in October

Motorbike sales in Indonesia increased 8.4% year-on-year to 590,362 units in October 2025, after 7.3% growth in September.

This marked the third consecutive month of annual increases, following a 150 bps interest rate cut by the central bank since September 2024.

For the first ten months of 2025, motorbike sales edged up 0.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

On a month-on-month basis, sales rose 4.1% in October, rebounding from a 1.9% decline in September.

In 2024, annual motorbike sales grew 1.5%, reaching 6.3 million units, within the forecast range of 6.2 to 6.5 million units set by the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI).

For 2025, AISI targets sales between 6.4 and 6.7 million units.

Last month, AISI remained optimistic that it could reach the target by the end of the year.

Indonesia Motorbike Sales Up 1% in February
Motorbike sales in Indonesia rose 1.0% year-on-year to a four-month high of 587,354 units in February 2026, following a 3.1% increase in the previous month. This was the seventh straight month of growth. Exports of Completely Built-Up (CBU) motorcycles jumped 31.4%, following a 29.5% rise in January. Meanwhile, Completely Knocked Down (CKD) shipments declined 14.0% after a 0.1% drop a month ago. On a monthly basis, sales increased 1.7% in February, a sharp slowdown from the 25.1% growth recorded in January. For the January-February period, motorbike sales were 2.1% higher compared with the same period last year.

Motorbike sales in Indonesia grew 3.1% year-on-year to a three-month high of 577,763 units in January 2026, despite a sharp slowdown from a 14.5% surge in December. This marked the sixth consecutive month of annual growth, supported by a cumulative 150 basis-point interest rate cut by the central bank since September 2024, along with government measures to boost domestic demand. Last year, motorbike sales rose 1.3% from 2024 to 6.4 million units, easing slightly from a 1.5% increase in the previous year but remaining within the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) target range of 6.4 to 6.7 million units. On a month-on-month basis, however, sales surged 25.08% in January, rebounding sharply from an 11.7% fall in November.

Motorbike sales in Indonesia jumped 14.5% year-on-year to 461,925 units in December 2025, accelerating sharply from a 2.1% increase in November, partly supported by government measures to boost domestic demand. This marked the fifth consecutive month of annual growth, following a cumulative 150 bps interest rate cut by the central bank since September 2024. For the full year of 2025, motorbike sales rose 1.3% from 2024 to 6.4 million units, within the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) target range of 6.4 to 6.7 million units. In 2024, annual motorbike sales grew 1.5% to 6.3 million units, within the forecast range of 6.2 to 6.5 million units set by AISI. On a month-on-month basis, however, sales fell 11.7% in December, following an 11.3% decline in November.
