Motorbike sales in Indonesia grew 3.1% year-on-year to a three-month high of 577,763 units in January 2026, despite a sharp slowdown from a 14.5% surge in December.
This marked the sixth consecutive month of annual growth, supported by a cumulative 150 basis-point interest rate cut by the central bank since September 2024, along with government measures to boost domestic demand.
Last year, motorbike sales rose 1.3% from 2024 to 6.4 million units, easing slightly from a 1.5% increase in the previous year but remaining within the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Industry (AISI) target range of 6.4 to 6.7 million units.
On a month-on-month basis, however, sales surged 25.08% in January, rebounding sharply from an 11.7% fall in November.
