Total passenger vehicle sales in India increased by 1.5% year-on-year to a four-month high of 301,251 units in July 2025, recovering from a 6.3% fall in the previous month, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).
The figures exclude sales from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), and Volvo.
Despite the small growth, demand is expected to rise amid the upcoming festival season, coupled with the benefits of RBI repo rate cuts.
"With the advent of the festive season, beginning with Onam festivities in the latter part of August, the Indian auto industry remains cautiously optimistic that demand momentum will pick up in the coming months,” said Rajesh Menon, Director General of SIAM.
On a monthly basis, sales jumped 9.2%, following a 9.0% plunge in June.
