The SENSEX Index decreased -72 points or 0.09 percent on Monday to close at 78421 points.

The decline was led by Tata Motors (-1.53%), Larsen & Toubro (-1.37%) and HCL Tech (-1.24%).

On the upside, the strongest performers were Eternal Limited (2.02%), Asian Paints (1.87%) and NTPC (1.21%).

Sensex Rises to Over 6-Week High
India’s BSE Sensex closed roughly 1% firmer at 79,273 on Tuesday, the highest in over six weeks, driven by earnings optimism and prospects of a resumption of US-Iran talks. The US expressed cautious optimism that peace talks would take place in Pakistan this week, and reports emerged that Tehran was considering joining, as the ceasefire deadline is looming. Heavyweight financials led the way after the Reserve Bank of India partially rolled back early-April curbs introduced when the rupee hit record lows, easing concerns that limits on hedging could hurt bank activity. ICICI Bank advanced 2.4% after solid earnings results over the weekend and a broker upgrade, with HDFC Bank also rising around 2%. FMCG stocks were lifted by stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter results from Nestle India.

The SENSEX Index went up by 753 points or 0.96 percent on Tuesday to close at 79273 points. The rise was led by Nestle India (8.36%), Hindustan Unilever (4.15%) and ICICI Bank (2.29%). On the downside, the weakerst performers were Titan Company (-0.64%), Reliance Industries (-0.62%) and NTPC (-0.48%).

Indian Stocks Bounce Back
India’s BSE Sensex rose about 0.5% to 78,902 on Tuesday, climbing back from the previous session’s muted performance as investor sentiment was shaped by prospects of US-Iran peace talks, with Iran’s participation in negotiations in Pakistan still under consideration. Investors will also watch earnings from IT firm HCLTech and consumer goods maker Nestle India, due later in the day. Meanwhile, foreign investors sold roughly $114 million worth of Indian equities last Monday, marking their first net outflow in four days. In other developments, TVS Motor is partnering with Hyundai to develop electric three-wheelers while expanding into Africa, PNB Housing Finance reported a 19% rise in Q4 profit driven by strong home loan demand, Muthoot Microfin posted 13% asset growth in FY26, and Anthem Biosciences received a fresh “buy” rating from Citi. Notable gainers included Billionbrains (+2.7%), PNB Housing (+9.3%), ZenTech (+10.3%), and Bank of Maharashtra and Data Patterns, both up around 5.6%.
