India's BSE Sensex closed about 0.7% down at 85,103 on Monday, wiping out gains from the previous two sessions, as investors turned risk-averse ahead of the Fed's policy decision later this week.
At the same time, ongoing uncertainty over a US trade deal and sustained foreign outflows remained a major drag, overshadowing optimism from the recent RBI rate cut and strong growth prospects.
All sectors posted declines, with tech, metals, financials, consumer discretionary and utilities among the hardest hit.
BEL (-4.9%) led the losses, followed by Eternal (-2.5%), Trent (-2.5%), Tata Steel (-2.2%), Bajaj Finance (-2.1%) and Adani Ports (-2%).
Tech Mahindra (+1.3%) was the only gainer.
