India's infrastructure output expanded by 1.7% from the previous year in June of 2025, picking up from the upwardly revised 1.2% in the previous month to extend the acceleration since growth slowed to an eight-month low of 1% in April.

The sharper pace of growth was supported by steel (9.2% vs 7.4% in May) and cement (9.2% vs 9.7%), aligned with the higher demand for construction inputs in Asia as Chinese policymakers vouched for a nation-wide cut in capacity, making Indian firms relatively more competitive.

In turn, refiner products also expanded faster (3.4% vs 1.1%).

On the other hand, output contracted for electricity (-2.8% vs -4.7%), coal (-6.8% vs 2.8%), and crude oil (-1.2% vs -1.8%).
